Lisbon, Portugal
Europe holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite travel destinations. Surprisingly, flying from New York to certain countries in Europe takes about the same time as flying to California. During my recent trip to Portugal, I spent two nights in Lisbon, but I'm eager to return to explore Porto and Algrave at some point as well. In this blog, I'll dive into Lisbon's vibrant nightlife scene, highlighting the best places to visit during your stay, authentic resturants to check out, and cute rooftop bars.
Best Time to Visit Lisbon
Tourist season in Lisbon seems to be year round, but for a less crowded experience, consider visiting in early spring or early fall when the weather is pleasant. During my visit in March, I experienced both cloudy/ rainy weather and sunny weather! The temperatures at night gave short sleeve with maybe a light sweater vibes.
Getting to Lisbon & Around While There
Most people traveling to Lisbon, Portugal by airplane will find themselves at the Lisbon International Airport (LIS). Once you arrive it’s fairly easy to navigate transportation either by calling a car or by utilizing Metro services. I usually prefer public transportation which easily gets you to the City Centre. There are a few different train lines at the airport - the red line is easily accessible and will get you to main areas.
Where I Stayed
During my stay, I stayed at two different hotels which I would highly recommend!
Dom Pedro Lisboa ★★★★★
Five Star Hotel. Would highly recommend. Each hotel room allows you to feel right at home. The hotel is conveniently located with two restaurants on-site, offering daily breakfast. During your stay, make sure you check out Amoreiras Shopping Center, a mall 2 minutes walking from the hotel. The mall offers Amoreiras 360 Panoramic View, which is the highest viewpoint offering unique views of the Portuguese capital. There were not many enticing food options close to this hotel.
Omid Saldanha Hotel ★★★★
Four Star Hotel. This hotel is conveniently located, with several attractions within walking distance. The average room is fairly small in size, and did not offer a table / desk to use for working on your laptop. Other than that the stay was comfortable and the room TV was in English!!!! We love a TV in another country that allows you to switch between languages.
