Houston, TX (USA)

RodeoHouston, officially known as the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, is one of the largest and most iconic rodeo events in the world. Held annually in Houston, Texas, it typically takes place over three weeks in February and March, and is one of the largest rodeo events in the world.
If you haven’t experienced RodeoHouston yet, I highly recommend adding it to your travel bucket list! Whether you're planning a fun date night, a girls’ or guys’ night out, or a family-friendly evening with the kids, this event offers something for everyone, from rodeo competitions and live concerts to amazing food and carnival rides.
2024 was my first time attending RodeoHouston, and in this guide, I’ll be sharing everything you need to know, plus a few things I wish I had known beforehand!
Bar-B-Que Kick-Off - All the details!
Attending the Bar-B-Que kick-off was hands down one of my favorite experiences at RodeoHouston! With over 200 teams competing in the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, the energy is unmatched. Keep in mind that many of the team tents are invite only, visitors are able to enjoy several public areas where free food is available. While the public tents are fun, in my opinion being invited into the team tents takes the experience to a whole new level. I’m sure you can find other tents to join through the people you meet if you aren’t already pre-invited.

Let’s Talk Prices… How much is the Rodeo?
Tickets go on sale several months in advance, it is recommended to purchase early to save on prices. Tickets for 2025 can be purchased here, to streamline your experience, you should create an account in advance.
World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest 2025: $26 (your ticket includes a BBQ plate, access to free public music areas, and admission to the carnival
Rodeo & Concert Tickets: Ticket prices will vary depending on ticket type, seating, and the specific day. I would advise you to check their website here
Grounds Admission Tickets: $21 for Adults and $10 for Children Ages 3-12 (You can either purchase a single day pass or a seasonal pass)

Where is it located & what is the best way to get there?
The Rodeo is located at NRG Stadium. If you plan to drive, expect to pay $25 per vehicle for parking. I, on the other hand highly recommend taking the metro, it’s easy to access and a great way to save money! Your best option will depend on where you're commuting from and which train or bus lines are nearby. The Houston metro system is convenient and will help you avoid traffic and parking hassles.
What activities occur during the Rodeo?
Rodeo Competitions: There are various cowboy and cowgirl competitions
Livestock Shows: One of the largest attractions with different animal competitions
Carnival: The Rodeo offers a wide array of rides, games, and food vendors
Concerts: Each year, the rodeo offers a star-studded concert line-up, with some of the biggest names in entertainment spanning across multiple genres including: pop, rock, hop-hop, and country
The concert line-up for 2024 was one for the books. Artists included: 50 Cent, Bun B, Jonas Brothers, and a surprise performance from Drake!!!
Bar-B-Que Cookout: Which occurs the weekend before the actual Rodeo starts

Rodeo Fashion…what should I wear?
Think.. Cowgirl / Cowboy vibes. Last year, I splurged and bought a sparkly cowgirl hat with one of the vendors for $100!! I mean, the hat was gorgeous; but, there are definitely cheaper alternatives for crafting the perfect fit.
